Why did you want to become a student at Lifeschool?
“I wanted to learn to manage my time better and discover what sort of opportunities might be available for me upon graduation from university. I was also attracted to Lifeschool’s emphasis on soft skills and confidence building.”
How clear were you on your career path before you did the Lifeschool Program? And after you completed it?
“I was not very clear before Lifeschool and was loosely attached to something design related, but as I learned more and got to experience my first job placement, I became more confident in determining what field I wanted to get into after University.”
How good were you at managing your time before the Lifeschool program? And after completing it?
“Thanks to Lifeschool I was able to manage my time much more efficiently by making short terms goal I could achieve in a few weeks or months and working towards larger goals that would have seemed more daunting at first. In regards to time management, Lifeschool showed us some very easy to use tools and instilled some very effective habits that have made me a much more organized person.”
How confident are you in social interactions and networking as a result of the Lifeschool program?
“Significantly more so! I am much better able to brand myself professionally and interact with other people than before I took the program.”
Tell us about your experience during your job placement… how has the experience changed you?
“After going to my job placement I was able to experience what it is like to work in an actual job and what to expect when you’re working in a fast-paced environment. The company is called Suquet Interiors, an interior design and furniture company in Vancouver that really gave me a sense of that particular product design industry.”
What were some personal weaknesses that you addressed and improved through the Lifeschool program and in your job placement?
“Lifeschool helped me improve my interview skills and personal branding skills the most. In regards to my job placement, I had no experience in a work-environment and learned the day-to-day operations of the company that I was clueless about prior. I also learned how to become a more efficient researcher when they assigned me market research work.”
How confident are you in getting involved in your desired industry after having completed the Lifeschool program?
“My experience was unique in the sense that my job placement made me realize that the career path I had previously wanted to pursue was not right for me. I am looking forward to getting into engineering now and will definitely bring the skills and habits that the Lifeschool program and subsequent job placement instilled in me to my next job placement!”
Is there any advice you can give you to future Lifeschool students?
“Be prepared to do things you would not normally feel comfortable doing and to work hard!”
